Windows 10 becomes unresponsive during startup, restarting repeatedly in a loop.
I shared an old PC with a friend. I reinstalled Windows, updated drivers for the CPU, GPU, and motherboard. Yet now it freezes when he boots. After leaving the PSU off for hours, it works perfectly. But when he needs to restart for updates or turn it off, it loops endlessly on "automatic repair." Anyone else experienced this problem?
I encountered a comparable problem on a PC several years ago. Executing "sfc /scannow" within an administrative command prompt resolved it for me. This utility detects damaged system files and substitutes them with fresh copies. If that doesn't resolve the issue, you might also attempt "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth" followed by running the command again.
I tried it again, restarted the PC, but it kept freezing at startup. It might be time to replace the SSD, though they’re super affordable these days. I’m still trying to figure out why it’s not working properly. We cleaned the system thoroughly and reinstalled Windows, so maybe the problem is with the boot drive itself.
