I discovered a Windows 10 license key on eBay for £8.50. It looks genuine, but I want some guidance before purchasing. If it doesn’t work, it’s only £8—but is it worth the effort?

It could be valid, but it's tricky to confirm. You don't necessarily require a Windows key; you can use it without one. Just avoid entering it during installation, and it won't force you later. It will prevent changing your wallpaper via the control panel, though you can still do it manually by selecting an image and choosing it as your wallpaper.

At that cost it won't meet legal standards or Microsoft's terms of use, if that's your concern. The seller might deliver it, though it could still be valid. I can assure you now it's either stolen or already in use.
