Yes, you can use a Windows 7 key to activate Windows 10. It’s possible if you have the original activation method or a valid product key from Windows 7.

It depends on the specific versions of Windows you're using.

You need the CD key to perform a clean installation of Windows 10. If the key is professional, Windows 10 Home 64-bit will not install properly. Download it from the provided link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software.../windows10. Ensure you have an 8GB USB drive ready.

I understand what you're trying to do. I've got an old Windows 7 installed on my HDD, and I'm curious if I can enable my 10th drive using the 7's key.

It seems possible, but you need to avoid relying on the same OS key.

We performed a direct upgrade at work from Win7 Pro Systems to Windows 10 Pro. The process selected the key and completed without any problems (last week).

it functions well for most of the time, around 8 out of 10. when people bring in old computers for recycling, I usually pick up the Windows license if it's Windows 7. a few don't work possibly because they're tied to certain hardware. What I'm trying to say is that sometimes the license includes a brand name like 'Dell' and might restrict it to Dell products. I'm not entirely sure about this.
