Windows 10 alters my apps' default setting to Light mode during specific morning hours.
I've had my new PC for a couple of weeks. On weekdays, I leave it idle to act as a morning wake-up alarm, but whenever I try to turn it off, the theme switches to light mode. This only occurs during idle periods and not when I shut it down on weekends. It's been happening consistently for several days now. Last night I recorded the screen before going to bed. In the morning I reviewed the recording and saw the theme change precisely at 6:25 AM. The file is named "theme changing.mp4". I've looked into the Task Scheduler, but no tasks start at that time—closest is Nvidia Crash Report at 6:25:30 AM. I created a task in Task Scheduler to revert the theme back to dark at 6:25:01 AM, but I have to wait until tomorrow to confirm if anything else alters it to light mode again. I'm still unsure about the reason behind this issue, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I saw this discussion about the same problem: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/wind...01e75aec72
I've noticed other discussions similar to this too, but they didn't address my issue. The person's response matches my case exactly. Even when Sync is enabled, my laptop—my sole Windows device besides my PC—is in dark mode and doesn't have the problem. It only occurs when the PC is idle until a certain time. If I revert the theme back after it changed and restart, it reverts to light mode. But if I shut down before the theme changes and turn it back on later, it stays in dark mode.
