I have a Windows 10 Alienware 17 R4 system. The AlienFX board isn’t showing up (this is the RGB controller for the laptop). I managed to dual boot my current Windows 10 setup and a factory image. With the factory image, the AlienFX board appears correctly and functions properly, but on my original machine it doesn’t work at all. I’ve tried various fixes—exporting the registry, removing the Alienware program from the Command Center, clearing related registry entries, deleting all folders named "Alienware," removing every file with "Alienware" in its name, and even reinstalling the Command Center with both the updated OS and the factory image. I’ve also installed suspected drivers and settings on the factory image to try forcing a compatibility issue, but nothing worked. I’ve updated drivers and added programs to the factory image hoping it would bypass the FX, yet it still fails. I reached out to Dell support, but they were unhelpful—they sent a technician to replace the MOBO, which didn’t resolve the problem. Now I suspect an OS conflict is causing the issue. As for the new installation, my laptop’s warranty is nearly expired, and if this keeps happening, I’m very concerned. I’ve set up a controlled test with both OS versions to pinpoint the exact cause, so next time I won’t rely on Dell support. Thanks for any advice—feel free to message me on Discord @MrKrowely#8714. I’ve finally resolved it! Apparently, SCPtoolkit left a driver in the device manager after uninstalling the program. One under libusbK USB Devices and another under system devices named scp Virtual Bus driver. You had to uninstall them, check the boxes to delete the drivers, restart, and it worked. Just in case others face this, let me know. Edited January 11, 2019 by mrkrowely – found the fix myself.
