Someone please verify if the update will cause your computer to become very slow and unresponsive, requiring a restart. There’s no way around it—performance drops significantly. Additionally, there should be no loss of internet access or data transfer from your own server running in the background on top of your PC.

Can't confirm... have an update waiting in the wings, installed awaiting a restart, played games all day, no problems.

It doesn't happen right away—it begins when it's set to install or download quietly in the background for your ease. It won't prompt you, and based on what I've seen, it often appears as a full-screen app launching... you'll usually see a message like "restart your PC" or something similar (unless you notice it in Task Manager).
