Consider Windows 10 for better performance and updates. If you prefer stability, Windows 7 still works well. Choose based on your needs and compatibility.

Ten wins feel great, while seven offers less use. Ten seems smoother and easier to use.

It's been a while since you reached out to Microsoft, haven't you?

Not for user help. Technical assistance includes system patches. Likely Windows 7 was the most affected by ransomware this year, while Windows 10 had the fewest infections.

He referred to software updates, particularly security patches, rather than focusing on Indian concerns.

7 Win still receives all security patches, but it won’t gain mainstream backing and Microsoft plans to discontinue support by 2020. If you already own a Win 7 key or drive, stick with that. Otherwise, purchase Win 10 instead.

Windows 10 can be a major stability issue for drivers. My machine kept crashing and restarting under it, but it worked fine on Windows 7. I was close to upgrading when I tried again with another OS. I regret not giving it a chance earlier. I miss DX12, but: A. The Nvidia card has a terrible driver, and B. I’d like Vulkan to replace DX12, so I’m considering this path.

The only times users reach out is when they face activation problems. I’d pick Windows 10. Many think Windows 7 offers better security because of its telemetry activities, but that’s a myth. Porting from Windows 10 to 7 would be a mistake Microsoft didn’t consider. Even with extended support for Windows 7, keeping it updated is a major headache. The update process has been deteriorating over time, and sometimes it fails entirely. What are your system details? I experienced stability problems at launch, but they were resolved later.
