Fermi is still around and a bit outdated, but it shouldn't really cause major issues. It might slow things down a bit, though not as severely as some other problems.

On a system with just four cores and an outdated chip, a relatively new GPU will probably cause major slowdowns. A unit priced at $100 today would almost certainly offer much improved speed.
