The system was initially equipped with an i3-2120, and I'm considering upgrading it to a more powerful intel xeon setup. I'm curious if the current motherboard will support this change or if I need to replace it or perform additional updates like a BIOS upgrade. The motherboard serial or model number is: hp 657002-001. I've noticed varied responses online, so I'm hoping for a precise answer here. Thanks.

My friend has a Desktop Computer HP Pro 3400 MT (LH129EA) with the following processor. To boost her computer's speed, we ordered a different processor. With this new one, the computer doesn't start? I changed the BIOS but didn't make any other adjustments...

Occasionally HP systems resist using non-HP certified CPUs and RAM, which is why I haven't upgraded either of my ML350P servers with another Xeon. Second-hand Xeons from XP servers are relatively inexpensive on eBay, making it potentially worthwhile to test one in your setup, as long as it matches the compatible CPU list.

Hi friend, the Xeon V2 processors don't work well, but I successfully used a Xeon 1270 "v1" in my HP 3400mt project with a Nvidia Quadro 5000 having 2.5GB VRAM. It's a full 2011 build and it works perfectly 👍🏼
