Hello, I have owned this laptop for around two years now and yesterday it seems as if a part of my backlight has started acting up as it goes dim. When this first happened I lightly tapped the bezel below the dim zone and it went back to normal for a few hours and now its gone dim again. Tapping it now will cause it to light up again for a second and then go dim again, if I apply pressure to the bezel from both sides of the screen then it lights back up but as soon as I let go it goes dim again. Sometimes it will fix itself for a few minutes and then go dim again. Will this require a replacement screen or could this be something to do with some form of connection which could be fixed? Thank you for any tips on the matter.

She has a possible loose electrical connection in the backlight area, similar to a solder joint. Applying pressure might help re-establish contact. Re-seating or re-soldering the connector could fix the issue by improving the connection. Alternatively, the backlight itself may be faulty; pressing the bezel could force the screen against it, causing illumination. These are just assumptions—your laptop might still have a warranty after two years. If so, using it could be a good idea.

Thank you for your message. I'll look into it over the next few days. I may consider getting a replacement just in case I damage it further while using it for university. If I manage to repair it, I’ll return the display. It’s not covered under warranty, as they mentioned the broken W key a few months ago. Appreciate your understanding.
