Will the cost of older graphics cards with 12 GB of VRAM rise?
Hello everyone.
I own a RX 6750 XT and an older GTX 1060 with 6 GB, and I’m thinking about selling them once I upgrade to a new or used card around 400 €.
Currently, the upcoming GPU market trends suggest that cards with 16 GB or more are likely to rise in price, while those with 8 GB may not be as attractive. However, 12 GB is still a popular choice, and it hasn’t changed much in my country.
In the used scene, the RX 6700 XT and RX 6750 XT are often paired with RTX 3060 Ti/3070 models, so performance-wise they’re comparable.
All these cards come with 8 GB, and the only ones offering 12 GB are the RTX models.
So, for the RX 6750 XT with 12 GB—will its price go up on the used side, and should I hold off before selling? Or will it stay stable?
What are your thoughts?
You’re not aware of what’s going to occur if it ever does.
There are many misunderstandings here. 8GB works for 1080p, 12 is sufficient for 1440. Just because high settings use up VRAM at 4K doesn’t imply other aspects are problematic. Also, cards such as the 1060 can’t handle games at a high enough frame rate when VRAM limits are reached. Older cards won’t suddenly speed up because they have more VRAM; the processor isn’t powerful enough to notice the difference.
Maybe it will, but we can’t predict the future. Still, performance remains comparable at a 5060 compared to a 3070Ti, especially in raster mode—not RT. Turning on RT on the 6750XT drops performance roughly in half compared to the 5060.
Perhaps. It's uncertain. We're dealing with enough issues right now because of the AI boom, which has influenced prices for RAMs and SSDs. It's a favorable moment to buy the newest Nvidia cards, as they're often available at their MSRP. I'm not sure about the latest AMD options though.
