Will Origin or Steam transfer my game progress from the cloud to my new PC?
Hi all, I just set up my new PC and am trying to transfer my games from Origin and Steam from my old machine. Do I expect my game progress to remain intact after redownloading from the respective launchers on the new PC? For instance, if I download Battlefront 2 from my Origin account on the new system, will all my levels and progress still be there? Similarly, if I download Lego SW TFA from my Steam account, will my story progress still be saved? Are there any adjustments I need to make on my old PC, such as cloud saves, before I transfer from the new PC? Yes, I know I can move them via a USB drive, but it seems like a lot of effort and I’ll only do it if necessary. Thanks!
Origin I'm not entirely confident about, but Steam is definitely an option! For the games you wish to move, you'll need to access your settings and ensure the cloud data sharing option is activated. From what I understand, this feature is usually turned on by default for most games, though it's always a good idea to verify. Using this, you can easily re-download the games onto your new PC.
I encountered an issue recently where the data transfer didn't work properly. I had to restore the older PC and confirm via a popup that I wanted to save the data in the cloud rather than on the local drive. Once done, all saved files became accessible on the new PC.

If you're familiar with the process and know precisely which files to move, it would likely be similar, though perhaps a bit slower. I believe using the Steam app to manage everything would be more dependable, ensuring all required files are transferred.
Cloud saves will move to your new PC after you reinstall Steam and Origin, but only for games that are compatible. For instance, I almost finished playing Crysis 3 on Origin before needing to reinstall Windows, and my save files were lost because that game didn't allow cloud saves.
That's exactly what I did, and my Origin files remained intact along with my Steam data. The process was quicker this time because of the improved SSD performance.
