Hello everyone, I'm trying to fully utilize the laptop
ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 GU603ZV-N3009.
It comes with 16GB RAM and its maximum capacity is 48GB.
I'm considering adding 32GB memory to reach 48GB total, but I'm unsure if it will work properly and whether dual-channel performance will be supported.
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

What software are you employing?
Software will operate only with the memory it needs, and it's probable that the extra 32 GB might remain largely idle.
I recommend sticking to the laptop and performing whatever tasks you need, or delving into more technical aspects if required.
If specific memory issues arise, tackle them directly.

Based on the initial configuration, the first 16GB is in single channel. Adding 32GB will switch it to asynchronous or flex mode dual channel. This results in 32GB in dual channel (combining the original 16GB and the new 16GB from the 32GB SSD), while the remaining 16GB stays in single channel (from the additional 32GB). The OS will handle accessing the 32GB in dual channel first.

Mostly I play games and stream (win 11). I’m having problems with the 16GB on my desktop right now and I’m moving to a laptop because it’s more portable. I want something that lasts at least four years, but the memory usage of each app is too high and I don’t think 16+16GB will be enough. I’ve heard in some videos that the 16GB already in the laptop is dual channel, and adding more might stop it from working properly. That’s why I’m here. Thanks.

Even if that is the situation, the dual channel 16GB should remain in dual channel. You can utilize tools such as HWiNFO to check your machine's setup, rather than depending on rumors from forums. It provides a lot of details, but in the summary window, the memory section shows the memory mode.
