Will DX 12 revolutionize the scene? Or could Windows 10 still hold its ground?
Is this aimed at systems with multiple cores? Are you all eager about the new Windows version and deciding whether to upgrade right away or hold off? I plan to install it on launch day and observe the results. What do you think about the existing Windows 10 drivers for Nvidia?
In one year DX12 will become a major shift, though not immediately. Software development needs time to improve and for creators to grasp its potential. You’ll quickly see a noticeable boost in performance compared to DX11, but the complete advantages won’t appear until at least a year—or possibly longer. Usually, it takes game studios two to three titles before they fully realize what DX12 can offer.
If dx12 truly captures the excitement, it could become a game-changer. If we ever witness Vram stacking, SLi will also be transformative.
If it holds up, I need to switch to a budget graphics card to ensure compatibility across different generations and make use of additional VRAM.
These claims are just speculation meant to spark interest. It doesn’t make sense for either company to gain anything by mixing their cards into a machine. A business perspective is essential here. A partnership between AMD and Nvidia could work, but Nvidia won’t share profits with competitors.
Additionally, multiple GPUs can split frame rendering, allowing you to leverage integrated graphics alongside your GPU for enhanced performance. (I'll look for the link in a few minutes.) As usual, the developers have to implement this feature. Jump to around 2:40.
