Mainly my 250GB NVMe drive is fully occupied and I'm thinking about reformatting. I have all my Steam games on the D drive, a HDD. Just need to be sure reinstalling Windows and the Steam.exe won't cause any issues.

Ensure Disconnect D is disconnected before proceeding with the NVMe installation.

Steam won't identify the storage location for the game data until after installation and you specify it. Formatting the parent drive and reinstalling Windows won't change this. Ensure the NVMe remains the sole connected drive during OS setup. One additional note: for modern or demanding games, using a solid-state drive would be advantageous as it improves startup times, loading speeds, and rendering efficiency compared to an HDD.

That's what I've been considering too.
