Hello,
Are there any insights from the market about Seasonic’s chances of releasing a 1300W version of their Prime PX ATX 3.0 PSU soon? Would they prefer to delay it in order to sell the TX model instead? I’m trying to figure out whether waiting a few months makes sense or if buying a MSI MEG 1300W ATX 3.0 now is better. (It’s not expensive, but the Prime TX version is cheaper.)
Also, 1300W is quite high and won’t be reduced further. The system specs include an OC 4090, two water pumps, external radiators/fans, LED stripes & COB modules, USB-C and Qi fast charging station, plus an internal monitoring display.
Thanks.

Surely a charging station brings a bit more than expected to the usual configuration.
It’s fine with the non-ATX 3.0 PX 1300W, just ensure you have the right 12VHPWR cables.
In my opinion, I could consider the HX1500i and a few Type 4 12VHPWR cables from Corsair or CableMod.
You’d need to consult Seasonic, but they probably won’t help.

Thanks,
I saw some discussions about ATX 2.x models experiencing shutdowns due to power spikes from 4090 cards. I'm trying to figure out if 3.0 would be a better option since I wasn't sure which 2.x models could handle it without reaching the limit.

The majority of the high-end units work well, even some older ones, and you're significantly oversized from the start. I remember that the main issues stemmed from Seasonic TX 1000W models. Many users were attempting to force 650W and 750W mid-range power supplies with 3080/3090 units, which often led to crashes.

Thx, I understand your question about purchasing the cable mod cable with X4 8-pin on the PSU side versus using it with an ATX 3.0 PSU. Corsair offers only X2 8-pin for a 600W GPU connector, possibly to handle higher power demands and stabilize during spikes?

Corsair's standard Type 4 cables are dual 8-pin connectors from one end on the PSU side, using a thicker wire—safe and reliable.
Cablemod follows this approach to ensure broad compatibility.
An ATX 3.0 PSU should support a suitable cable for 12VHPWR, possibly with 12-pin connectors at both ends or a different setup.
For optimal power efficiency, using four 8-pin connectors to the single 12-pin connector is ideal. This reduces heat generation in the wires and minimizes voltage drop along the run. For extended runs within a full ATX tower, a four-connector configuration would be preferable.
