WiFi performance drops significantly across all devices after connecting a Steam Deck.
I'm sorry, I don't understand much English yet. I have a 20Mbps FTTH wifi connection – it's not the fastest, but it's typical here. My Steam Deck works at full speed on all devices. But when I connected it to this Wi-Fi, its speed fell below 500Kbps for everyone, including the deck itself. It wasn't downloading anything, even after trying to download games. When I took the deck off the network, everything returned to normal. I also tried using my Samsung phone's hotspot feature to share the Wi-Fi, and the deck worked perfectly on that connection. Now I'm getting full 20Mbps, and all devices are performing well. I'm not sure what's happening and I'm really new to networking. Any advice would be great.
It seems unusual. I thought the number of connected devices could be excessive, but you included the smartphone and it worked fine with the other game device. The Steamdeck runs Linux, which is faster than Windows, though the settings are in separate locations. I assume it uses K desktop or KDE. I can walk you through the network settings, but why would sharing differ? I’d just unplug the Wi-Fi router (not the fiber box) and leave it off for a few minutes, then reconnect only with the Steamdeck.
