You're in a spot with weak Wi-Fi, but you need reliable streaming. Look into better options like fiber internet or local ISPs offering strong connections. If that's not possible, consider using a Wi-Fi extender or mesh network to boost your signal.

Maybe consider using Ethernet.

WiFi and an ISP serve different purposes. WiFi refers to a wireless networking technology. What you seem to be referring to is likely a poor internet service provider. Possible alternatives include 4G LTE or, if fortunate, a local WISP (Wireless Internet Provider) that uses transmitters nearby to deliver signals to your home. Typically, WISPs offer more reliable connections than 4G LTE. The worst choice is satellite internet, which usually has limitations on daily and monthly data usage. As for speed, moving to the city might be better. Suddenlink is a cable company; unless you live in close proximity with many neighbors and have high population density, they won’t connect you to their network. If you’re lucky, you might achieve 3-6Mbps DSL, but don’t expect much.

I reside in California, seeking a more dependable service. There aren’t many options available, but reliability and consistent streaming are essential. I don’t mind the cost, just prioritize speed and stability.

I've noticed posts before about people living just a mile away from the cable network. To grow that network, the company asked homeowners to pay around $50k since they needed to cover installation costs, gear, and labor. Plus, they had contracts lasting 2 to 3 years or more. With the switch to Docsis 3.1, many providers are adding fiber while cutting out AMP services. This limits how far coaxial cables can reach—they’re now closer to homes but still limited. Fiber is available nearer, so if you're too far, they’ll have to lay fiber and set up a new hub. The catch? They only do this if enough people sign up along the route, and they need to recoup their investment. A sudden link might be interested in fiber at a fair price, but remember—you’ll still owe for cables and equipment, possibly locking you into a costly deal. Your safest choice is to locate a WISP nearby with solid speeds and no data limits. Otherwise, moving closer to the city could be the best move.

It seems you're confident about your choice, but Fortuna might be a tough spot for internet options. You've got Frontier and Hughsnet as your main picks, though I haven't used either. In my area, Suddenstink is available, but I don’t have experience with the others. If you visit nearby, feel free to use my Wi-Fi.
