I've always used TP Link gear without any problems. Consider getting a router or modem router from them. (You'll need a modem router—plug it directly into the wall, not just a modem.)

I own the Netgear R8 AC5000 and it works great. It’s a bit over 200 dollars, but it’s worth it because it supports your home server needs—handling several devices at 1Gbps, delivering 2Gbps to the router, and maintaining 1Gbps for reading/writing.
