Xfinity employs several gateways. The XB10 is being developed. I rely on the XB3 since I’m subscribed to their NOW prepaid plan.

You're thinking about whether the XB10 is a good upgrade. If it launches, you might be able to visit their location conveniently.

I’m stuck because I’m using a prepaid plan, which means I haven’t updated my gateway settings. Back when we had postpaid, we had our own modem. It’s unclear if the XB10 model is available, and it might be specific to Docsis 4 service, so your local shop probably won’t carry it.

It seems like you're considering upgrading your router. If you want a list of features you need and when a router fits, go ahead. It's likely that as Wi-Fi 8 becomes more common, Wi-Fi 7 could look better, or Wi-Fi 8 devices might stand out. I haven't upgraded from Wi-Fi 5 either; most of my devices aren't even Wi-Fi 6 ready. So there wasn't much reason to change. Another point is how beneficial Wi-Fi 7 would be for you. Do you have many devices that use the standard?
