You wouldn't link two modems together. The goal here is swapping what your ISP provided for their own device. My ISP bills $15 monthly for their gateway (modem/router package). Instead of using theirs, I purchased my own CM1000v2 modem to cut costs. The Ubiquiti model fits into a rack mount, which is convenient. However, it remains quite costly.
