The phone runs on Redmi Note 8 with xiaomi.eu MIUI 12.5, and I'm staying at a hostel even though the place claims decent internet. It keeps dropping and won't reconnect, even after multiple attempts to connect to Wi-Fi. After waiting a few minutes, it usually works again. This is really annoying because Wi-Fi is my only option here, and the signal is weak around all those buildings. The outdoor CPE I use is Tenda O3 on 2.4 GHz with strong coverage, while the main router is a Huawei ONT on 2.4 GHz with poor reception—only two bars on my phone. I tried connecting to the Huawei router in WISP mode, but it still drops. I’m considering getting a cheap router to fix this, possibly linking it to the Tenda CPE for better performance. I might buy a dual-band model like TP-Link WR820N or Archer C54 if it helps, though I’m unsure if it’s worth the extra cost. I also got a Redmi TV soundbar with Bluetooth, but it doesn’t solve the issue. One thing is for sure—I’d rather stay on 2.4 GHz than risk more trouble.

I chose to purchase the router, especially the WR840N, even though I bought the WR820N. It seems the seller made a mistake, but I’m glad I got it. This fix resolves all the previous issues, like the constant disconnections caused by bandwidth being eaten up by someone in the boarding house. However, it wasn’t a perfect fix—wired connections would still be the best option. Hope this helps with any similar problems you face.
