They're definitely not discussing a 4G mobile hotspot. There are satellite-based options available, but they typically cost over $500 and offer speeds in the tens to low hundreds of kbps.

It seemed similar to a 4G hotspot, which was my first assumption. After some time, I verified it wasn't that. They've been in areas without network coverage for their phones, likely explaining the need for this solution. That aligns with my expectations too. Performance won't be exceptional, so I might need to explain that to them. Are there any specific models or brands you know work better?

I haven't worked with that before either. I came across the site you mentioned: https://satellitephonestore.com/catalog/...te-hotspot. It seems you might need a plan along with it, which adds to the cost. Finding information on these can be tricky, so I’m not sure where to start.

I understand you're new to satellite internet. Most of what you've read suggests it's a set installation with a fixed connection. The signal comes from a dish pointed at a specific location, connected to a gateway like a modem or router. You're seeing slower speeds possibly because of the small antenna used. It might help to know what you're trying to achieve with this service.
