Check the back of your laptop or XPS for a SIM card tray and a WWAN port. If it lacks the WWAN slot, it won’t function properly. Dell models with this setup include built-in antennas for 3G, 4G, or LTE, and enough space in the slot to use a standalone card. Other models, such as Precision laptops, hide the SIM tray but still provide a WWAN port. In reality, I’ve never seen a Dell laptop without a WWAN slot. Since I work with business machines, I’ll refer to the official manual. It doesn’t mention a WWAN option. This device looks identical to the Precision 5520/5530, and the same image appears in both manuals. Therefore, there are no WWAN antennas inside. I recommend not swapping the PCIe card; instead, use a USB LTE adapter or a WiFi LTE gateway.
