Hello
I own a gigabyte GA-ep41-UDL3 with Core 2 Quad q9300, 2.50ghz GTX 660 Ti JetStream, and 4gb DDR2 800mhz RAM (2x2gb). I know I can overclock the CPU to 3.0ghz without too many issues, but it generates a lot of heat. I attempted to do so but could only reach 2.57 because the RAM speed in BIOS shows 667mhz and increasing the CPU speed further causes the system to refuse to start.
Could you help me? I’m not sure what to do and my BIOS is quite old, so I’m worried about updating it. Thank you.

When adjusting a locked Core 2 CPU, boosting the FSB speed is essential. For a target of 3GHz with a Q9300 (x7.5 multiplier), the FSB should operate at 400MHz. The BIOS should offer an adjustment for RAM speed, allowing you to set it to match a 1:1 FSB:RAM ratio or run at 400MHz (DDR2-800). Checking the motherboard manual, this setting is typically under "Motherboard Intelligent Tweaker" -> "System Memory Multiplier." If not visible, updating the BIOS might be necessary. What BIOS version are you currently using?

Jesus, your message seems to indicate you were in a hurry when composing it. Please attempt to be more deliberate and clearly explain the situation.

Sorry I was in a rush
Yes, actually when I raise the CPU frequency at the same time my RAM speed goes up from 667MHz to higher values. That can be an issue if the RAM speed remains close to 667MHz; I could overclock the CPU without problems, but it doesn't stay near that frequency. It only works if I change the CPU from 2.50 to 2.52, 53, 54, 55, 56 or 57, which are all above that threshold.
