I have a HP 14-dv0003ne laptop. When I lifted it from the front-right corner, it created friction or pressure on the back corner near the hinges. The screen would suddenly go black, then the machine would freeze and stop working, requiring a forced shutdown. This has occurred about thirty times in recent months, though it happens unpredictably. I attempted to cause the issue by hitting a part of the laptop—specifically, the area where the bed mattress meets the screen, which caused the flickering and shutdown. The motherboard wire connecting to the screen near the hinges seems to be involved. A repair shop fixed the problem once, but the issue returned after I brought it back. They suggested checking and possibly replacing that wire. Could another factor be causing this? How can I ensure the problem doesn’t recur? Would replacing the wire resolve it?

The issue seems to be a thin wire in the hinge. I've experienced this before; swapping out the cable should resolve it. Always open the laptop at the center of the screen and avoid gripping the screen edges.

You noticed the issue earlier. The repair shop should see the damage on the wire. It’s understandable you’re concerned after handling it before.

The wires inside that cable are like copper threads, if they break inside you really can't see it. It's generally a cheap part anyway. Avoiding stress on the hinge and twisting the panel, mostly. (But I'll admit that's probably more relevant to the chunky laptops of yesteryear than today's thin-and-lights.)

The issue might stem from the display or its connection, not just the cable. A repair shop should be able to check both the screen connector and the motherboard if needed.
