My computer's internet performance has been gradually declining over the last week. Initially, only the upload and download speeds on Wi-Fi were affected. After switching to Ethernet, my ping remained excellent, but the speeds stayed around 4Mbps. I recently replaced my power supply with a higher wattage unit, wondering if that could be the cause. However, the speed issues had already started before then. I own an older 2017 Alienware Aurora R7 that I've been upgrading regularly, but the motherboard hasn't changed. I just reinstalled Windows, confirmed it's set to a 5Gbps connection, and there are no restrictions in the settings.

consider the following factors
what type of connection are you using for your internet
vdsl copper to copper (phone line)
fibre to cabinet fibre to copper phone line
based on my experience with adsl lines, filters can degrade over time
this small device that connects to your phone line may fail
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Generic-Filter-...B00TU2OHY4
wifi performance depends on your router and wireless chip
router overheating or wireless chip issues can reduce speed
