Hey guys! Today my Toshiba Tecra Z40-A-11V had a weird problem. I plugged it into the power outlet with the battery attached, and suddenly everything went off. After turning it back on, it stopped getting any charge. The battery only shows 1% while charging but never goes up anymore. Currently, it works fine on DC power alone, but the "DC IN-Battery" light stays permanently off (even though that light is meant to be connected to the power). I tried taking out the internal battery from the motherboard, but nothing changed; the Power LED is still off. It seems like a big problem with the battery or something else inside my laptop. It worked fine yesterday for over 3 hours before this happened. Thanks everyone for reading!

Batteries just die if they wear out or get damaged. They only hold up to 75%, then 50%, then 25% and finally give up. Yours didn't break like that. If you had a spare, you could test your laptop to make sure the battery system isn't broken too.

Hi, first take out your battery. If you can get access to the back, unplug it too. Press the power button hard for 15 seconds just to drain the electricity from the motherboard, then put the bios battery back in and plug everything into a charger. If your multimeter shows less than 3 volts (or at least 2), that's not good. Go ahead and try charging it again. If you still don't get power, take your laptop to a service center where a pro can check the charger circuit to see if it's working or broken.

If everything is okay with the charging circuit, the battery might run down too much and go into a protection mode. You'll have to charge it manually instead, but a tech can fix that when you come in for service.
