Why is my random stuttering happening on a new Windows 11 laptop?
Hi, I have an Asus laptop with a Ryzen 9 6900HX CPU and a 3070 Ti GPU. This machine keeps getting really slow for about two to three seconds every single day, sometimes twice in a row. The stutter makes all the audio sound robotic, and even though the mouse moves weirdly during those moments like it is hopping around on its own. I thought the stutter was from FTPM because that was my guess, but AMD told me they fixed this issue for laptops now. However, since so many people here have complained about this exact problem, I really think it's not an FTPM thing. AMD said to send them a specific file to see if it was software related, and they pointed out the ArmourySocketServer.exe. But I'm still not sure if that is what it is. If anyone can read that file or has your exact same laptop (ROG Strix G15 from 2022 with model number G513 G513RW-HF187X), please tell me if you feel this stutter too. And finally, I would love to know how to confirm it is FTPM using a program like HWinfo or a simple CMD command, because the BIOS won't let me turn off FTPM to test that part. No, I don't think it's a problem with the hardware at all, since the stutter never happens when I am doing heavy work on the CPU, GPU, memory, or the SSD.
Here is what happened: Windows Error Reporting showed some strange crashes starting around 2017. They listed several error codes like WER0, WER1, and so on, pointing to files like EXCEL.EXE, KERNELBASE.dll, and specifically ArmourySocketServer.exe which was showing up a lot of times in the logs.
I have an Asus ROG running on an AMD Ryzen9 6900HX and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti. It is strange because I get the same stutter every day or two, even when I am pushing hard or just doing normal things like browsing. I use this computer for work with 64 gigabytes of RAM, and I run Photoshop as well as Autodesk software.
