Why is my RAM breaking everytime?
I assembled my initial PC about a year ago and it functioned properly until I began experiencing bluescreens and damaged Windows files. The error message indicated “MEMORY_MANAGEMENT,” leading me to suspect RAM problems. I returned the two 2x16GB modules and borrowed an 8GB one from a friend. After replacing it, everything worked again. When I received my upgraded 2x32GB sticks, the same symptoms reappeared. I assumed the motherboard was faulty and replaced it along with fresh RAM. The remaining components stayed unchanged, but issues returned once more, with my RAM failing again. I’m quite confused about what to do next. I’d appreciate advice from someone who understands these problems. My setup details: CPU i7–10700k, 2x16GB G.Skill Trident Z @3200Mhz; Friends’ RAM 1x8GB Corsair @2666Mhz; Old board MSI Z490 Gaming Edge Wi-Fi; New board Msi Z590 Gaming Edge Wi-Fi; SSDs – 1x M2 Samsung 960 Evo 256GB, 1x Sata Samsung 860 Evo 1TB; PSU beQuiet! straight power 11 650W; GPU Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 MSI Ventus.
I've tested Memtest86 on all RAM modules and my PC frequently fails, showing many errors. My friends also experienced the same problems—bluescreens, corrupted files, etc.—when I used their faulty RAM. I've tried every RAM type on their machines before transferring them to mine, and they always function properly until damage occurs.
Since you updated the mobos, it's likely not the main issue. It could be another part or something you're doing. Someone with more experience probably found the problem.
Have you checked the RAM in your friend's setup after installing it yourself? It might not be a faulty RAM, but rather a problem with their system.
They mention that issues can stem from more than just faulty RAM. It seems your focus has likely shifted to the CPU, possibly due to problems with its memory controller or cache.
I swapped the CPU during the motherboard upgrade and still encountering the same problems.
