Why is my PC displaying weird graphical glitches and crashing?
The computer is exhibiting erratic behavior, primarily manifested as visual distortions – flickering pixels and the appearance of green and red dots – accompanied by frequent freezing and crashes. The issue seems to have emerged after a hardware cleaning session, raising suspicions about potential damage to components or loose connections. While temperature monitoring and resource usage appear normal, the persistent instability suggests a deeper problem.
The system’s specifications indicate an older CPU (Intel Core i5-5200U – Broadwell architecture), RAM (DDR3 at 798MHz), and a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M graphics card. The combination of these components, particularly the aging DDR3 memory, could be contributing to system instability, especially under heavier workloads or when combined with graphical demands. The Seagate HDD is also an older model, which can sometimes cause issues related to data transfer and potentially contribute to system freezes.
It’s possible that the cleaning process inadvertently loosened connections within the PC case, leading to intermittent electrical problems. Alternatively, there could be a subtle hardware fault developing—potentially with the graphics card or motherboard—that manifests as visual artifacts under stress.
Given the age of the components, particularly the RAM, it's plausible that the issue is related to degradation over time. The SSD might also be experiencing write errors, causing system instability.
Does this happen if you set the Intel or the nVidia graphics as the default? That is pretty much guaranteed a video card issue. Try disabling the nVidia card in Device Manager or BIOS if you can there and see if this happens with the Intel video. If it happens with Intel video, RAM issue can cause video glitches with the shared RAM with onboard.
I presume that's a LAPTOP ?
Can you post a screen/pic of this issue ? Are you getting artifacts on your screen ? Did you REPAIR your Laptop lately ?
The internals are that of a laptop because it's a small console PC. Also, I did not repair my PC only opened it and gently vacuumed it
Here's a screenshot of the problem appearing on my screen

That's absolutely correct! Let’s rephrase it to: “The worst-case scenario is often exaggerated; however, a cautious approach, considering potential impacts, is always advisable.”
I think some red and green pixel/boxes/artifacts are visible in the above screen, IMO, Look at the bottom right hand side corner....
