About a week ago i noticed when i was watching a youtube video and i clicked on the realplayer download button and shortly after my youtube video stopped to buffer because there was a download now happening.. It never did this before. There was always plenty of bandwidth to go around.. I now have come to realize that whenever i am doing any two or more things that require the internet only one will workk. I can not download a game on steam while watching youtube, i cant download a game on battle net while loading facebook, i can not stream netflix while an update runs in the background, i cant load most web pages while a game downloads.. So when i update my games now i have to stop what im doing and find something else to do while the game downloads.. I'm on hour about 12 now of downloading the 60GB game cyberpunk 2077.. Usually that would take like 20-30 minutes.. I have 200Mbps internet. I am hard lined to the router which is hard lined to the modem. both the modem and router are gigabit capable. Spectrum's ookla speed test (speedtest.net) shows 120-220Mbps speeds when connecting to a spectrum server on my spectrum internet.. But any other speed test i run shows .5-8Mbps.. So not only do i not know what my actual speed is, but Its like my pc all of a sudden dropped 99% of the speed it had a week ago for no reason.. And its ONLY on that pc.. I can download a game on my pc and youtube wont even load the main page on the same pc, but i can watch youtube on another pc or on my phone connected to the same network just fine.. I've been binge watching a show on a roku TV while waiting for this game to download.. So the network itself is plenty capable of sustaining several devices running several internet related things at a time.. But ONLY on seperate devices.. When i try to do those identical actions on the same pc, its impossible.. Not enough bandwidth or something.. What in the hell is going on here??? Someone please help!!

I would start by removing the basic elements. Fix network drivers or swap the Ethernet cable, etc.

First off... too much to read for something that could fit in two lines! The details are fine, but they get buried. Just sharing some ideas to confirm you've checked:
- Tried a different Ethernet cable.
- Updated network drivers.
- Looked into bandwidth limits in network settings and the apps you're using.

I haven't tested a new cable. That's a good plan. Everything on the PC is fully up to date, including Windows. While trying to solve the issue, I performed a factory reset and updated the router's firmware, then reset the modem. Spectrum also pushed the latest updates. This morning they installed a new cable jack on the wall and added a filter to the line.

They mentioned updating the Ethernet drivers for your motherboard first. If that doesn’t help, switch the cable. Otherwise, replace the hardware—your motherboard might be the issue. You could also test another port on the router.

Did you reinstall the Ethernet drivers after the factory reset, and have you ever installed them before? This would be a separate download that needs manual installation. It should be available on the motherboard manufacturer’s site, typically labeled “Realtek LAN/Networking” drivers.

I confirmed everything is working smoothly with my motherboard, the MSI MEG Z390 Godlike. It features two gigabit Ethernet ports. I tested both on all four router ports and verified the drivers are all set—standard and premium versions. I’ll check the official site for updates, but MSI Dragon Center does a great job organizing everything for easy viewing, downloading, and installation.

I’d consider switching to a different cable and port on the router first. If that fails, installing Linux (like Ubuntu) could help test speeds. If those options don’t work, the issue might be with your motherboard’s Ethernet port, which could be faulty. How recent was your motherboard purchase? Was this problem always present or only recently noticed?

It might not be the cable or the MB update, possibly a corrupted update caused the problem. I experienced an issue where my onboard Ethernet adapter stopped working after a Windows update, and only after reinstalling Windows four times did it function properly. It’s clear that not every update fits your setup perfectly, as drivers and settings can sometimes interfere with hardware. Consider reverting to an earlier version before the recent updates you applied and see if that resolves the issue. If it doesn’t, you might be in trouble. LOL

I just removed and reinstalled all the newest drivers for LAN. There was a chipset update I installed too. I also tried disconnecting the Ethernet completely and using only the built-in Wi-Fi adapter, but the issue persists in every situation. I’m confused about what’s happening. lol. How can I stream YouTube on my phone while another laptop downloads at the same time on my main PC? The page doesn’t load even though the network has enough bandwidth. My computer seems to be limiting the speed. I’m really puzzled!
