Why is my CPU running at a slow 1.5 gigahertz when it used to be faster?
sorry for my bad english. My computer has trouble with the speed of the processor dropping too much and power going down too much. It hurts both the cpu and the graphics card, but sometimes just one thing happens or the other at first. At first everything was fine like this. But when I changed my graphics card to a gtx 1070 and switched to an aerocool 600w power supply (before it was rx460 / psu 550w but no problem), Apex legends, raft, or black desert could run at 90-140 frames with high graphics settings without any problems. But after that, the cpu clock speed and wattage drop on their own sometimes. The framerate drops to 20-60 frames about 10-20 seconds (the cpu goes from 3.4 ghz down to 1.5 ghz). Actually before that when I replaced the psu with an aerocool 600w and used a gtx 1070, my computer froze and restarted during play but suddenly those symptoms disappeared instead it made my game's fps drop a lot even with low graphics settings My cpu temperature minimum is 40c maximum is 66 c Graphics card minimum is 50c maximum is 72 c while gaming i7 2600 mainboard dh67bl ram 16gm ddr3 1330 psu 600w full aero cool (second hand) gtx 1070 8gb oc asus dual (second hand) heatsink tsunami tss - 8000 95w I don't know what is causing it exactly is it the psu or cpu or gpu T T IMG vvvvv when clock drop normal update video when wattage and usage drop by itself sometimes.
I think this might be a problem with your power supply. The Aerocool model I'm thinking of isn't always the top choice for that job. But you said both the graphics card and the power supply were bought used? So how old is it actually been used since you got it? You shouldn't buy second-hand PSUs anyway, because they are really important parts in a computer. Even though I don't mean to blame the Aerocool model, from what you've told me, this seems like a power issue. Do you have a spare supply so you can check if it works on your PC? Or maybe try putting the graphics card on another machine, perhaps a friend's setup, just in case?
Hey there, does it sound like your CPU might be slowing down or getting hot? But the actual temperatures aren't super high yet. When was the last time you swapped out the thermal paste? @Metal Messiah mentioned that the power supply unit (PSU) could also be a problem here. Aerocool doesn't make good PSUs, though. Usually, if a PSU is broken, your PC will just restart randomly instead of crashing completely. What Windows power plan are you running? And have you updated all system and chipset drivers for your computer? Yeah, that machine is pretty old too, so the software might be buggy or not quite right yet.
I fixed all the settings, tried reinstalling Windows again, but it's not working. Even though I changed the heatsink with silicone last week, things didn't get better. My power usage is still dropping randomly. Every time I play that game longer, the issue gets worse and more common.
Update the video if the wattage drops below 0.20 volts for less than two seconds.
Hi, I switched out a new power supply that wasn't used before it. Now I'm wondering if the wattage is dropping too much or if the CPU and mainboard are old or broken. Before, they worked fine, but now things change. I also tested my GPU with a friend for almost 10 hours straight gaming and there was no problem at all.
I use a Corsair 650W PSU and after swapping it, the problem still happens. When I run CPU Burner or Furmark, my CPU gets hot and drops its clock speed when I start gaming or do heavy tasks. Even at 70-90% load in games, my CPU stays around 65-70 degrees Celsius instead of dropping further. It wasn't until I took off the old heatsink that this started happening; before that, my CPU stayed at 90-98 degrees and kept its clock speed steady even when it was getting hot.
