Why is my 9070 XT experiencing frequent crashes?
I recently installed a new system while working on building computers for clients. This is my first experience using an AMD graphics card, and unfortunately, things haven't turned out as expected...
My client primarily plays Call Of Duty: Warzone. He doesn’t play extensively and only uses 1080p/144Hz settings, which isn’t a high-end monitor. Even at higher resolutions, the game performance drops significantly.
Whenever he plays, the game gradually deteriorates until it crashes. He reports increasing lag and stuttering, which intensifies over time, eventually leading to freezes and shutdowns. This is followed by a message from AMD stating, "AMD software detected that a driver timeout has occurred on your system. An issue report has been created that can be sent to AMD..." This is immediately succeeded by a message from Call Of Duty indicating, "DirectX encountered an unrecoverable error."
I’ve tried everything possible. I changed all settings to defaults, adjusted system RAM XMP, modified game configurations, and updated drivers through the driver app. Still, I’m left frustrated with this being my first AMD card and unsure of the next steps.
Is this the initial use of a Vetroo psu? I might want to explore other established options, such as Corsair or the RMX series.
Yes this is the first time using such brand, which could be the problem. I would like to state that whenever he's not playing Call Of Duty is doesn't lag or crash. So in my mind I feel like that would make a lot of sense. Regular Chrome and things like Spotify don't need much power draw. When playing Call Of Duty (Maybe any game, he only plays 1 game), it's drawing more power which it can't handle resulting in a crash.
Question following that suggestion though. If the card isn't getting enough power, wouldn't the whole screen turn off because a lack of power? Or would it be able to freeze and crash a game showing a still image before booting out of the game, then proceeding to work like normal without needing to do anything. Thanks!
