Why is it WASD and not ESDF?
Why is it WASD and not ESDF?
ESDF feels more comfortable, it's the typical way to type at home. It still offers easy access to numbers, ctrl, shift, etc.
Since not everyone has large hands and it simplifies accessing the shift and ctrl keys, you can always adjust your key bindings in games if needed. This is the charm of PC gaming.
due to various factors like caps, tabs, numbers, shifts, alt, ctrl, spaces, and the fact that everyone is accustomed to it, I know a YouTuber who uses the numpad as a keyboard shortcut. It's actually quite unusual.
Your keyboard shortcuts are set to WASD with a lighthearted twist.
It seems a well-known game popularized WASD and many people adapted it until it became standard. In reality, it makes it simple to reach CTRL, shift, alt, tab, and numbers 1-6. I’m not sure how you learned your typing positions, but I was shown to hold hands on asdf (left) and jkl; (right) while typing. Whether it still offers good access isn’t important since game makers aim for broader compatibility. If it bothers you, you can remap keys in supported games or create custom keyboard profiles to adjust key movement. It’s unlikely they’ll alter the default layout soon because it’s already widely accepted.
