Your audio issues might stem from unstable power delivery or overheating during intense usage. CPU performance could fluctuate due to high load from scrolling or background processes. Check for voltage drops, ensure proper cooling, and verify system stability under stress.

Are you relying on your motherboard sound or the GPU audio? I think it’s the motherboard sound. This issue appears on my FX 9 series machine. It seems to be linked to the Conexant audio chips. The CPU manages most of the audio work, so when it’s busy with other tasks it struggles to process audio smoothly. If this bothers you, consider a budget Sound Blaster from eBay.

It wasn't always this way; the audio was stable before. The issue seems to have started after I replaced the GPU paste and installed a new one. Also, the lag happened during scrolling or gaming before that.

It might actually be a problem with something else, not just the paste. Make sure all components are properly aligned. Replace the GPU, RAM, and clear the slots.

Could the issue stem from the CPU due to those frequent spikes?

Besides FX chips, the CPU itself isn't showing any major issues these days.

These bursts aren't caused by the CPU; they're likely related to other system components or software behavior.

It seems the CPU is having issues but isn't clearly broken. Alt-tab requires some CPU activity for smooth operation. Playing music might cause a temporary slowdown due to file access or background tasks.
