I just press the BIOS key right after turning on the machine. I've done this for years across various boards. It seems unnecessary to force it like a wild person, especially since it won't speed up the system any further.

It's unpredictable when the input for the BIOS key begins. Holding it before the system starts reading it might cause issues. Rapid input seems to be a better method for accessing the BIOS.

According to what I recall, I attempted this earlier in the 2000s, but it sometimes functioned correctly or caused a keyboard buffer warning and beep. After that, I kept sending more messages.

Over the years I've struggled to access BIOS by merely keeping the button pressed. I understand I should just press it once when the boot screen shows up, but it feels simpler to keep pressing it instead of timing it perfectly.

In 1998, with a PS/2 keyboard, pressing a button during POST triggered a BIOS error message and stopped the process until you pressed any key. Because your keyboard lacked an 'any key' function, you'd attempt to type a tab instead.
