I have a trendnet wireless router that has no ethernet ports. To start setting things up, I need a wired internet connection. My internet comes from a Clear hotspot using only wifi. How do I get a wired link between the two routers to help with my setup? Should I just plug the router into the laptop directly with an ethernet cord and let it grab the wifi signal from the hotspot? Will that work for me? Or do I actually have to connect the router to the hotspot somehow? Is there an adapter or converter cable that has a big old ethernet plug on one side and a tiny wireless-looking plug on the other end that I could buy with that internet connection in hand? Or am I just completely misunderstanding how this thing works? If so, please help me get started. Also, my wireless printer said it needed a wired connection too, but I managed to wire it to my laptop as an option before figuring out what else was missing... some day hopefully. Can anyone Please help? Thank you in advance!

You're combining way too many gadgets... Your "Clear" hotspot acts like a router, letting you link up a few wireless devices to get online. You don't actually need another router for this. You can use your Trendnet device as a wireless bridge, or as an extender (for example, to connect your wired-Ethernet-only game console to the internet), but you likely have to plug it in with a cable so you can set it up properly.

You are mixing too many technologies there... Your "Clear" hotspot is already a router that lets you connect a limited number of wireless devices to the Internet. In this sense, you don't need another (Trendnet, Asus, Cisco etc) router. You can use your Trendnet router as a wireless bridge (for example, to connect your wired-Ethernet-Only game console to the Internet), or as an Extender. And you will probably have to connect to the Trendet with a cable in order to configure it.

You need to pick the right clear hotspot because some include wired ports too. Even though that sounds nice, it's better to save your cash and skip expensive gear for now. The big reason is that all of it will go away by November if you don't switch before then.
