I own a Ryzen 5 3600x, MWE 650 Gold RTX 2060 with 16GB RAM, and an ASUS Prime B550M-K. I've applied numerous fixes (switching to DirectX 11 or 12, updating drivers thoroughly, moving files multiple times), yet Apex Legends Max still runs at 144 FPS while other games function normally. I’m puzzled as to why Fortnite is the only game crashing.

Check the manufacturer's tool to verify if the SSD is updated with the latest firmware.

I removed and reinstalled everything on both my SSD and external hard drive, but they are still failing.

I also utilized the manufacturer's tool to refresh the SSD, but there were no firmware updates available, so I'm current.

Your memory settings aren't in XMP mode. You're using DDR4 3600, but running at 2666 seems to limit GPU performance due to insufficient bandwidth between CPU and GPU memory. If you're struggling to get the CPU to operate above 2666, it's a different issue—3200 might be more feasible.

Your RAM issue seems to be a concern, potentially affecting performance, particularly in CPU-heavy games such as Fortnite. Although it's currently running at 2666mhz, I suspect XMP might already be active but it's worth verifying. I recommend checking if the RAM is operating in dual channel mode, downloading cpu-z, and reviewing the memory settings under the channels# field to see if they indicate 'single' or 'dual'.

It crashes in various ways—crash to desktop, shut down, BSOD. I checked the memory details, but it points to a single kit instead of two, which means mixing kits. XMP might not work well at 3600, so the maximum stable version is likely around 2666.
