Yesterday I purchased the Dell G7 laptop equipped with an RTX 2060 6 GB DDRM and an Intel I7-9750H. After setting it up, I removed Mcafee and installed HWmoniter. Suddenly, my fans became very loud. They stopped running for about a minute before restarting unexpectedly. I checked the temperatures and saw my CPU reaching a maximum of 91°C. That was shocking. I wondered if running a tough game would reveal more about the machine’s performance. I installed and launched GTA V. The first odd observation was that my cursor movement felt sluggish. I checked the game settings and realized it had been set to the lowest level, possibly failing to detect my GPU. After restarting and adjusting some settings, I ran a few benchmarks. The game minimized, and CPU temperatures stayed around 90°C or higher. I ended the session, downloaded Cinebench, and performed five consecutive stress tests. Temperatures began in the low 90s but quickly fell into the low 80s. My average score came to 2725 points. What do you think? I only have about two weeks before returning it, so I’m eager to find out if there are any problems. This machine is a big investment, and I don’t want it to be wasted.

Laptops inevitably face challenges with heat management. Recent Intel processors, especially the one mentioned, can reach temperatures up to 100°C. This is considered high compared to the past, when Intel dominated with efficient designs while AMD relied on more noticeable cooling solutions. As long as you stay below that threshold, operating within those limits is safe. For better cooling, position the laptop so the bottom section—where the trackpad connects—is raised above the screen end. This encourages heat to rise naturally. Make sure the vents have enough space to function properly. Modern slim laptops often limit airflow due to their compact feet, which can hinder cooling. For light tasks like commuting, it performs well, but for intense gaming, consider ways to improve airflow. In GTAV performance, you've noticed stuttering, which is common in demanding games. Hard drives tend to struggle with this title, so swapping to an SSD is advisable if possible. Many laptops also support easy drive replacement, and a 1TB SSD is a practical size option you can find at discounted prices throughout the year. Another tip is to adjust the BIOS settings, tweaking fan speeds to prevent overheating before the system starts cooling.

I've seen many portable gaming laptops in my time, but most of them overheat and slow down quickly. That's expected. You can't expect everything to work perfectly, and laptops are a clear example of that. This is why gaming laptops are kinda...
