What you intended was to check if it's configured for dual channel, as that would definitely lead to stuttering if it isn't.

It's likely you'll appreciate having 16gb. In the meantime, keep background processes running at their lowest settings and avoid using Chrome while gaming. This could reduce some lag.

He only has one stick of RAM, so the dual channel isn't possible. But you're correct, using dual channel (2 x 8Gb) would provide a significant improvement, along with more RAM. This should eliminate stuttering.

As others mentioned, it seems RAM is getting full and the swap file is being relied on, which would hurt performance. 16GB is actually the minimum needed for gaming these days, and I think 32GB would be better.
