Why a new metro is so challenging?
Why a new metro is so challenging?
Hey guys, ive been wondering. I had GTX 770 back in day and it could run Metro last light redux no problem at very high settings FHD wtih 60fps in most cases, Game still looks amazing and well optimized. Now i have GTX 1080 TI and i saw guru3d performance review on metro EXODUS. Chart shows that 1080 TI gets 71fps average and 2080 TI gets 95fps AT FHD. What the hell?? from what i saw, game doesn't look any better than prievious , but why it's so taxing ? on the bottom of the chart i see GTX 780 TI with 25fps average, also what the hell... My main concern is, why games doesn't really look any better each year, but they are more and more taxing...
I have a watercooled 1080ti FE, and I'm experiencing no problems running the game at 4k Ultra with stable 60fps. The only problem is a Crash To Desktop situation. My video freezes or turns black while audio stays, but the video is completely broken. It's happened twice whenever I try to interact. As for the graphics, I believe it looks much better than LL or 2033. The improvement is really impressive. Looking at your specs, I think my CPU might be the cause?
It seems appealing, but comes with a price. Users desire higher configurations, yet feel frustrated when forced to disable visuals that enhance playability. It has just been released—expect gradual performance improvements over time. Avoiding the optimal settings is advised.
Hi
Appreciate the performance from your CPU. Time to continue.
I have two computers set up together—one with Last Light and the other with Metro. The difference is noticeable outside, but not as much inside.
With the "RTX" drivers I’ve experienced many CTDs in some games on my 1080 Ti. During tests the GPU would be at full capacity when it happened. Even though my main gaming rig is 3440 X 1440 (2x1080 Ti), I tend to use my 4K rig (2080 Ti) more often. I hope this improves.
My CPU is functioning well, I'm gaming at 4K resolution without any issues or bottlenecks before. My i7-2600K runs at 4.8GHz and achieves 170 points in the Cinebench single-core test, which is better than Ryzen and comparable to the stock i7-6700K. Although Metro Exodus doesn't seem to improve much compared to earlier versions, it still places a high demand on the GPU.
I retired my i7 2600k at the start of 2018. I upgraded to an i7 6700k in mid-2018. When I tested both CPUs together at 4k resolution, I saw no benefit in keeping the older model. After that upgrade, I moved to the i7 8700k as well. My son uses an i7 6700k with a 1080 ti and runs at 1440p. He doesn’t need top-tier performance and is completely satisfied with his setup. That’s why I understand your perspective.
I plan to upgrade my CPU this year and am looking forward to the new Ryzen models. Right now, I’m content with a 4K 2600k, it’s not impressive but it works fine. Still, the CPU is more than capable of achieving 60fps+. I don’t need to hit 144hz. You know, a 2600k isn’t bad at all.
I need a Cinebench single core score of 240 for an upgrade. I'm currently at 220 with my i7 8086k. I ran some tests and found that the textures in the game make 4K unnecessary. Here are the test images. This version uses raytrace on high settings.
