Who are you choosing between prey and Nier:Automata?
You could choose either of the two games. Both have positive reviews, so it depends on what you prefer.
It hurts… you might want to pick between my kids. These two are the only full-price triple-A titles I've bought this year, and I really like both. They belong to totally different styles, though. Of course, personal tastes play a big role when you compare an environmental puzzle RPG with horror and metroidvania vibes versus a quirky, sad Platinum action game. I think I'd suggest starting with Prey just because its edges feel smoother, but I’d definitely encourage playing both whenever you can.
I highlight Nier's ability to craft compelling endings and seamless New Game+ experiences. After more than 20 hours, the quality improves significantly, reaching peak performance around 30–40 hours. The initial gameplay isn't flawless, but it demands a substantial time commitment. However, the combat remains outstanding throughout. I'm roughly halfway through the main story in Prey and have completed many meaningful side missions, making the overall duration uncertain. Overall, it's a refined and satisfying title, particularly appealing to fans of classic PC titles like Deus Ex or System Shock. It feels more true to those experiences than Bioshock did for me.
