Hey, you noticed some unusual behavior when your PC started up today. There was a white line in the top left that kept flashing before launching Windows 10, and after restarting it just sat there for ten minutes, flashing again—this caused a seizure (part of the issue). You tried using a ventoy USB drive and followed the Windows installation steps, but it froze instead of loading properly. What should you do next?

Does the top left corner resemble a blinking underscore or dash? This is often seen during boot checks. Issues like a failing hard drive or corrupted Windows might lead to slower performance or unexpected behavior. Could you share your full system details, including the storage brand and model where Windows is installed?

I5-7400 256m.2 ssd (main) Samsung 512gb ssd (second ssd), GTX 1050ti 280w power supply. Don’t worry, I verified it everywhere—it’s not a fire risk. It’s a Lenovo Y520 tower. It uses an ASUS B250M-K motherboard. Yes, that’s the setup.

Disconnect both SSDs and reinsert them (essentially repositioning them). It’s unclear if the issue is resolved by simply reseating.

Consider @Somerandomtechyboi's advice. If it doesn't resolve the issue, please let us know. Also, verify your boot sequence in BIOS and confirm the boot drive is positioned first.

The boot sequence remains unchanged. I attempted to reposition it, but that didn't help. It's also the first M.2 drive.

You might consider using a macrium boot fix, which can sometimes resolve boot problems like this. But you’d need to set up a portable OS drive with macrium and it can be tricky if you haven’t done it before—it also requires another computer for setup. A complete Windows reinstall could also work, especially if you don’t have vital data on the current system; I’d try that first. Alternatively, you could perform a fresh Windows install using an older Windows version or transfer important files to another drive before starting the new installation (which would need another machine or portable OS). There are also CMD commands you can use if you boot into a Windows installer and attempt to rebuild the boot process.
