Identify the wires for POE in your Ethernet cable. Determine which ones are positive and which are negative. This will help you connect the power correctly when using a 48V converter instead of a POE injector.

Ensure proper controller is in place for Active POE; passive POE is limited to 24V. Refer to the "Standards Implementation" and "Power Devices" sections on the Wikipedia page for details. The pinout information is also included there.

The primary unit is operational. Another system also works passively, but it includes an injector with a small board featuring both AC and DC connections. I adjusted the board to allow direct power to the DC side.
