Which power supply should I select, the 1000W or the 850W option?
Which power supply should I select, the 1000W or the 850W option?
I am just starting with PC builds and now I’m putting my own together. For gaming, game creation, and graphics work, I need to decide between a 1000W or an 850W PSU with 80+ gold certification. I’m planning to overclock and I’m not sure if an 850W unit will suffice. My current setup includes:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
COOLER: ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III 240 A-RGB
MB: Asus PRIME X870-P WIFI
GPU: Gigabyte WINDFORCE MAX OC GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER
RAM: 4X Corsair Vengeance RGB 16 GB DDR5-6000 CL30
STORAGE: Western Digital WD_Black SN850X 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 (I’ll get more later)
CASE: Corsair 4000D Airflow ATX Mid Tower Case
850 should suffice for that setup if it’s 80+gold psu from a trusted manufacturer.

Right now, the decision really hinges on the cost. A lot of the 850W power supplies were bought during this recent surge in PC building sparked by the release of the 50 series. You should aim for 2x32GB if you want 64GB, but using four sticks together at 6000 will be challenging. I’d recommend purchasing the 2TB SSD immediately.
The most affordable options I see right now include the Thernaltake Toughpower GF1 850W, GF3 TT 850W, GF A3, MSI MAG 850GL, and MSI MPG A850G. Pure Power 12 M is also a solid choice. However, at the same price point in the US, the Super Flower Leadex Titanium 850W and Super Flower Leadex V Platinum 1000W are available, along with MSI MAG A1000GL.
That's a very good PSU but I see €154 in

is decent too and cheaper with 1000w. See 1000w chart
