Hey everyone.
I'm planning to use an i7 7700k in Turbo Mode at 4.5Ghz and need a new CPU cooler to control the heat. I'm trying to decide which model offers the best cooling performance. I don't mind noise as long as it's not too loud.
Here are some options: Noctua NH-U14S, Cooler Master Hyper Evo 212, and Be Quiet! Dark Rock 3.
I'm unsure if any of these will fit my motherboard without affecting RAM slots or causing issues. I know the U14 is an upgrade from the U12, but the U12 might be enough for my needs. The U14 costs a bit more, around 10€ extra.
Which one would you suggest for cooling this CPU effectively?
Thanks in advance for your advice!

It's okay if you don't change the character, then a 212 evo works just fine. However, for the best temperatures and overclocking potential, go with Noctua.

I'm using a U14S and blimey is it an amazing cooler! I've got a i5 4690k OC'd to 4.5ghz, 25c idle, under 40c at full load! I love it.
The 212 evo is an good cooler but not really meant for enthusiast chips that are oc'd. Haven't heard much about the dark rock so I'd definitely recommend the U14S

I won't be changing much, it will occur in the far future. However, is U12/U14 really superior to EVO? Does it justify the increased price?

It depends on your preference—going off-character isn't necessary if you're okay with a 212 evo. For better temps and overclocking potential, choose Noctua.

Currently the temps are between 60-65, reaching up to 70°C during intense sessions in games like Battlefield 1, For Honor Beta, Dishonored 2, and CS:GO. Some players mention I have a cooler that's too small for my i7 7700k with a Noctua U9B SE2. They suggest aiming for around 50-55°C while gaming, with a max of 60°C, and using Turbo Boost enabled. They think a U12 or U14 cooler would work better, as the U12 is about 10€ cheaper than the U14.

I'm using a U14S and it's an amazing cooler! My i5 4690k is OC'd to 4.5ghz, running at 25c idle and under 40c when full load. I really like it. The 212 Evo works well but isn't ideal for enthusiast chips that are OC'd. I haven't heard much about the dark rock, so I'd definitely go with the U14S. If you run Prime95 with only small FFTs or an Intel burn test and your OC'd 4690K stays at or below 40C, what's the ambient temperature?

Currently the temperatures are between 60-65 with peaks reaching 70°C during gameplay in titles like Battlefield 1, For Honor Beta, Dishonored 2, CS:GO, etc. A cooler that performs better is needed for games where I see 50-55°C when using Turbo Mode OFF. Some people think my cooler is too small for my i7 7700k with a Noctua U9B SE2. I aim for around 50°C during gaming, max 60°C, and want to enable Turbo Boost at those temps. Maybe a U12 or U14 would work. The U12 is about 10€ cheaper than the U14.

Currently I'm experiencing temperatures between 60-65 degrees, with occasional peaks reaching 70°C during games like Battlefield 1, For Honor Beta, Dishonored 2, and CS:GO. A cooler that runs at 50-55°C works well when Turbo Mode is off. Some people have mentioned I might need a smaller cooler for my i7 7700k, which uses a Noctua U9B SE2. I aim for around 50°C during gaming, with a maximum of 60°C, and I want to keep Turbo Boost enabled at those levels. Perhaps a U12 or U14 would suit me better. The U12 is about 10€ cheaper than the U14.
