Which one is better for video editing?
Hi guys. I'm planning to set up a workstation for video and photography editing (like Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, etc.). I know my GPU will be the 4060Ti with 16GB of VRAM. My main question is: what do you think would be the best choice here and why?
Ryzen 5800X with 32 GB RAM at 3600Mhz DDR4?
Intel 12700KF with 16 GB RAM at 5600Mhz DDR5?
Since the price difference between these options is almost none, thanks a lot!
Intel is expected to surpass AMD in most Adobe CC applications.
New 12th Gen Intel Core processors review highlights features like DDR5, PCIe 5.0, and a hybrid architecture combining Performance and Efficient cores. This mix of innovations in one device can be challenging to evaluate.

For video editing tasks, the 12700 or 12700K are recommended due to QuickSync support and GPU redundancy benefits.
Considering budget constraints, investing in the Intel 12th Gen could be more practical, allowing for additional RAM upgrades.

The 12700 or k (you need that IGPU, the F variants don't have it) offers better performance in both ST (useful for Photoshop and Premiere) and in MT. The MT advantage isn't crucial unless you're handling many Photoshop tasks at once, but it's beneficial—it lets your work run smoothly in the background while you use the computer normally, without any noticeable slowdowns.
Again, looking at those benchmarks I shared about small improvements in i9 performance within Adobe tools, but with significantly higher power use and heat.
I’d pick DDR5 just for being the latest standard.
TLDR - 12700k and ddr5
Postscript: From my experience, the main slowdown in Adobe apps comes from storage speeds, not the CPU. Sometimes it’s smarter to invest more in faster storage than a quicker CPU.
