Which of the two DDR3?
Which of the two DDR3?
Neither option is too expensive. 8gb sticks cost around 20$ in India and the used market here has low quality items. I recommend checking local stores or eBay instead of Amazon where prices seem misleading for products worth only 15-20$. Most components should be fine, so worry not. 1066/1333 is a better choice if you want lower cost. 1600mhz is okay for most parts, but 2000mhz will give better performance. Avoid cheap manufacturers—they might push 3000mhz, which is hard to achieve safely. Stick with 4gbit chips; they’re reliable and support close to 2v for optimal speed. Use Prime95 large FFTs for stability testing. The OC settings from the DRAM forum thread are a solid starting point. Keep the TRFC settings loose while you adjust the OC.
They cost $20 each, but I didn’t locate a used one on eBay that offers good value. On AliExpress, used items in unknown condition are actually pricier.
Don't worry about AliExpress or Amazon. Where are you really? In Asia, most places have Shopee where local sellers offer used items like DDR3 parts, though it's unclear about other options since Tokped appears to be limited. Similar is the case with Buklapak. For the rest of the world, you'll find eBay, Craigslist, Gumtree, and more.
Ebay costs more when you factor in shipping. In my country, thieves are common—both used items and retailers offering the same kit for as low as $80. Amazon offers it for $45 with free delivery. Just to compare: What’s the price range for a 2x8GB DDR3 1600Mhz? It’s significantly cheaper than $45.
It looks a lot alike in terms of price, but you can usually find one in the range of 35 to 45 dollars. The specific country you're interested in would depend on where you're looking.
It looks like the cost is essentially the same, just around $10 less for a used item.
