Networking equipment plays a crucial role but often gets overlooked because it doesn’t seem very exciting. I’m planning to swap out two outdated network switches for newer models. I’m considering a 12-port setup but am leaning toward two 8-port switches since higher-end options usually come with a steep price tag. I’m curious about why the cost varies so much between unmanaged and managed devices, especially when both brands are reputable. Is there value in opting for the pricier model? Thanks.
The only thoughts that come to mind are they may have entered the incorrect SKU or something went wrong since I notice GS 108 on Amazon for $30 while Netgear lists it at $54.99. Both appear to be unmanaged switches with minimal features, so unless Netgear believes the warranty adds value by $30, there doesn’t seem to be a clear reason to pay more.
